Joan Hannan


Joan Hannan is a highly experienced IT leader with a record of delivery and operational excellence. Her 26 years of experience encompass driving technology initiatives, evolving organizations and implementing process improvements.

As Senior Director, Hannan led a worldwide team of 200+ IT professionals delivering solutions in Travelport’s most complex global products supporting 45+K travel points of sale in 110+ countries. Hannan was responsible for shaping mission critical, strategic initiatives and delivering high availability, high transaction systems. Across three initiatives alone, she was accountable for $100+M in investment. With one program, the annual cost of ownership was reduced by $100M, over 90%.

Hannan drove change. Her efforts were instrumental in institutionalizing Global Sourcing which reduced costs by $5+M per year. Her teams migrated to Agile and iterative methodologies, financial and reporting rigor were implemented within the delivery organization and traceability and quality improvement initiatives were instituted.

Joan has extensive international experience with Board and C level exposure in Europe and India. Hannan engaged in corporate development activities, including establishment of Travelport’s JV offshore development capabilities, the asset and IP acquisition from a former competitor, a bid for engagement in China and she was accountable for deliveries committed to key existing and prospective customers.

With her keen ability to balance risk, financials and quality she led the engagement with many technology partners including manpower, software and hardware providers. Hannan increased leverage of third party resources from 15 to 85%. She has expertise in all aspects of engagements from due diligence through contract negotiation and management. Hannan managed in multi-vendor, global arrangements to ensure optimum business and technology results.
